KUCHING: Local Liverpool Football Club (LFC) supporters will flood the streets in red on May 25 as The Kuching Reds host the Reds Champion’s Parade to celebrate the club’s 2024/2025 English Premier League (EPL) triumph.
The parade is organised by The Kuching Reds, a fan group formally registered as a sports and recreational club on Sept 14, 2024.

In a statement issued recently, the group said the parade will run from 1pm to 9pm, with festivities kicking off at the main entrance of The Spring shopping mall.

This fan-driven celebration follows Liverpool’s emphatic title win on April 27, secured with four matches remaining.

“Participants, who are advised to wear only LFC red or home shirts, will begin with a meet-and-greet session with fellow fans, a walkabout to meet patrons, a ceremonial tour within the mall, a press conference, a symbolic trophy-lifting, a new member registration session, and a photography session.

“From there, around 5pm, the parade will proceed with a city convoy led by an Anfield-style decorated bus, flanked by supercars and big bikes, passing through iconic Kuching locations including Satok, Kampung Muhibbah/Dagok, the Kuching Waterfront (near Darul Hana Bridge), and Padungan — giving the public a chance to witness the fanfare along the route,” the statement read.

The event will culminate at Best Time Cafe, fondly called “Batu 3 Anfield” by local fans. There, supporters will watch Liverpool’s final league match of the season, raise a replica EPL trophy, and enjoy a fireworks display.

“We are in the midst of calling for more participants — young and old — and as long as you are a faithful LFC fan, you are welcome to join the Reds Champion’s Parade,” the statement added.

The organisers have assured participants that safety measures are in place, with traffic police escorting the convoy.

“We missed a golden opportunity to organise a parade in 2020 after LFC won the 2019/2020 EPL championship due to the COVID‑19 pandemic,” the statement noted.

Formed in 2015, The Kuching Reds have grown steadily and now finally unite to celebrate Liverpool’s long-awaited league triumph.
