KUCHING: The Kuching Taekwondo and Self-Defence Club (WTF) held its year-end upgrading test last weekend at the Kuching Taekwondo & Self-Defence Academy in Taman Heritage, Petra Jaya, here.
The event saw the participation of more than a hundred students from various universities, colleges, and primary and secondary schools across Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, and Lundu.
In a statement issued by the club recently stated that among them, 41 young members undertook their black belt test.
The statement pointed out that the grading was conducted by Taekwondo Malaysia (TM/WT)’s national senior examiner, Grand Master Tan Check Joon, and supported by an experienced team of senior black belt coaches and assistants.
“The upgrading session is a vital component of Taekwondo training, serving as a measure of each member’s growing proficiency.
“Throughout the test, students were assessed on their technical skills, theoretical knowledge, indomitable spirit, and physical conditioning,” said coach-in-charge Tan Cheng Qiang.
As students advance through the ranks, the level of difficulty increases, demanding greater discipline, dedication, and resilience.
The progression of belt colours signifies not only their achievements but also the continuous journey of self-improvement embedded in the art of Taekwondo.
The club expressed its pride in the students’ commitment, noting that their enthusiasm, perseverance, and strong motivation truly reflect the spirit of Taekwondo.
