KUCHING: The Brahma Kumaris Foundation (BKF) Kuching Branch will host the 11th United Nations (UN) International Day of Yoga next Sunday (July 6), from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at the Indian Association Kuching Multi-purpose Hall.

According to its press release, this year’s celebration – held under the global theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ – highlights yoga’s role in holistic well-being and sustainability.

The event aims to raise awareness of yoga as a comprehensive practice that nurtures physical, mental and spiritual health – not just a form of exercise.

“Yoga helps improve flexibility, strength and fitness while reducing chronic illness risk. It also lowers stress, enhances focus, and strengthens emotional and mental balance.

“Yoga empowers individuals to reconnect with themselves and live in greater harmony with others and the environment.

“In today’s fast-paced world, yoga’s core principles of mindfulness, simplicity and unity are more important than ever,” said BKF Kuching.

Several booths will be set up for participants, offering health screenings, guided meditation sessions, happiness index tests, and other interactive wellness activities.

Water dispensers will be available, and attendees are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles to support eco-friendly practices throughout the event.

Organisers hope to make the International Day of Yoga a regular celebration in Sarawak and inspire more people to pursue healthier lifestyles.

“Together, we can inspire individuals to embrace the benefits of yoga and contribute to a healthier world,” it added.
