KUCHING: Kuching will welcome medical librarians, health information professionals and researchers from across Asia when the Asia Medical Library Seminar (AMLiS) 2026 convenes this September.
The two-day seminar, scheduled for Sept 8-9 at the Borneo Cultures Museum, will gather regional experts to discuss advancing medical libraries within Asia’s rapidly evolving digital healthcare landscape.
“The seminar reflects our commitment to empowering health knowledge while strengthening medical libraries as strategic partners in healthcare, research and innovation,” the Malaysian Medical Library Group (MLG) said in a press statement on Thursday (Aug. 6).
MLG said AMLiS 2026 would provide an important platform for medical librarians, researchers, health information professionals and strategic partners to exchange experiences, strengthen networks and foster meaningful regional collaboration.
Held under the theme ‘Empowering Health Knowledge: The Future Role of Medical Libraries in Asia’, the seminar highlights libraries’ expanding responsibilities in supporting research, clinical practice and equitable access to reliable health information.
Discussions will focus on three key pillars: exchanging professional perspectives, promoting regional collaboration and embracing technological innovation to improve medical library services across diverse healthcare environments throughout Asia.
Participants will also explore contemporary topics, including redefining medical libraries within digital health ecosystems, supporting clinical research and policy development, bridging health information gaps, and building resilient future-ready institutions.
The programme features distinguished speakers from Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia, offering diverse international perspectives on emerging developments and best professional practices.
Organisers believe the seminar will reinforce the role of medical librarians as strategic contributors to healthcare and research while encouraging innovation, knowledge-sharing and stronger cross-border partnerships among Asian institutions.
