KUCHING: Building on their recent success at the Toastmasters International District 87 Speech Contests in Bandung, Indonesia, Toastmasters Clubs in Kuching are set to launch a series of community engagement initiatives beginning July 1.
Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Joanna Then Poh Ding said a total of 13 Toastmasters Clubs in Kuching are joining forces to promote communication and leadership skills among the public.
“Key initiatives include an Effective Communication Skills for the Public programme, Toastmasters Speechcraft workshops, and the 13th Youth Communication Camp, scheduled from Aug 30 to Sept 1.

“These programmes will provide opportunities for the general public, including youths, to explore Toastmasters and take their first steps towards enhancing their communication and leadership abilities.
“Our clubs will also conduct outreach programmes to various organisations and higher learning institutions,” she said in the statement issued by Utama Toastmasters Club Kuching today (May 25).
Joanna also lauded the achievements of Kuching Toastmasters at the Toastmasters International District 87 15th Annual Conference, held in Bandung, Indonesia, from May 16 to 18.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the contestants from the Toastmasters Clubs in Kuching, for their outstanding performances at the speech contests held during the Toastmasters International District 87 15th Annual Conference in Bandung, Indonesia.
“These contests showcased top division-level speakers from Brunei, Indonesia, Sabah, and Sarawak,” she said.
