KUCHING: Sarawak fighter, Mohammad Nurizman, or better known as Kilat Sting of Sting Muaythai Club, has been selected to join a new reality programme organised by Boxxtomoi Asia in partnership with Desaru Coast, marking a significant milestone for the state’s growing muaythai community.

The programme’s introduction and filming phase runs from November 21 to 26 at Desaru Coast in Johor, involving participants from Malaysia and abroad in a series of challenges, recordings and character-building segments.

It will conclude with an official media conference on the last day.

The official fights for the reality series are scheduled from January 23 to 26 next year, also at Desaru Coast, and will feature local and international athletes.

The event aims to provide global exposure for Malaysian muaythai talent.

Desaru Coast, as the main strategic partner, expressed its long-term commitment to positioning the area as an international sports hub, particularly in combat sports and sport tourism.

“This programme is not just a sporting event but a strategic platform that elevates Desaru Coast as a world-class destination for sports, tourism and entertainment,” the organiser said at a press conference in Desaru Coast today.

Kilat Sting all prepped up for his reality television debut.

The collaboration with Boxxtomoi Asia is expected to open doors for more international events, including world championships, professional training camps, and large-scale sports festivals.

President of the Sarawak Muaythai Association, Jumaat Ibrahim, welcomed the selection of the Kuching athlete, describing it as a positive step for the sport.

“This is a significant development for muaythai in Sarawak,” he said. “It gives our athletes the exposure they need at higher levels, locally and internationally.”

He also noted the broader impact of such programmes.

“Opportunities like this help strengthen the image of muaythai. They counter the perception that the sport is violent. In reality, muaythai builds discipline, confidence and character,” he said.

Jumaat added that the sport continues to serve as a unifying platform.

“Muaythai brings people together across different races and cultures. That spirit of harmony and unity is what we want to promote through the Sarawak Muaythai Association,” he said.
