KUCHING: Staff of Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak attended a Complimentary Employee Benefits Awareness Session organised by KWSP i-Lindung at the Sarawak Tribune/Suara Sarawak office here on Friday.

The session aimed to provide employees with a comprehensive understanding of the benefits offered under the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP), focusing on retirement planning, protection schemes and financial management tools.

Organisers said awareness of these benefits is essential for staff to make informed decisions that can secure their financial future and provide peace of mind.

“Our aim, our vision for this session is to encourage all KWSP members to get protection from Account 2 so they can reduce their monthly commitments, allowing the savings to be used for other purposes.

“For benefits, we cover critical illness costs, normal debt, accident costs, and the ‘Manfaat Ihsan’ of RM3,000, which is paid immediately to beneficiaries upon a member’s death,” said Mohamad Nazip Abdol Rasit, an affiliate of KWSP i-Lindung.

Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak staff, Ghazali Bujang, said the session was especially valuable for older participants.

“This programme offers many benefits, especially for someone like me who is already 60. If I had the chance to start again, I would invest earlier. For those under 60, this is the perfect opportunity.

“Money sitting idle in our bank accounts is being wasted. We need to understand that we can manage our expenses wisely while making use of our savings in KWSP to gain its full benefits,” he said.

The session also highlighted practical ways for employees to utilise the i-Lindung platform, allowing participants to monitor contributions, explore protection options and actively manage their retirement savings.

Organisers emphasised that proactive planning and understanding of available benefits can help employees achieve long-term financial security.

The session is part of KWSP’s ongoing efforts to increase awareness of employee benefits and promote financial literacy across organisations in Sarawak, ensuring staff are better equipped to plan for their future.
