BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyzstan’s economy has almost tripled over the past five years, said Kyrgyz President, Sadyr Japarov, here on Friday, reported Xinhua.

In 2020, the country’s gross domestic product stood at about USD8.3 billion (RM32.45 billion), and by the end of 2025, it is expected to exceed USD22.6 billion (RM88.4 billion).

“Therefore, we can confidently call this a significant achievement and notable growth,” Japarov said at a national meeting on Kyrgyzstan’s socioeconomic development in 2025 and plans for the coming years.

He said that over the past five years, tax revenues have increased approximately four-fold, customs duties six-fold, and non-tax revenues nearly nine-fold.

The consolidated budget in 2025 grew 3.5 times compared to that of 2021.

The president also said that over the past four years, the country’s average annual real economic growth rate reached 10.2 per cent, while international reserves exceeded USD10 billion (RM38 billion) for the first time in Kyrgyzstan’s history.

Japarov said that Kyrgyzstan must become a strong, competitive and socially sustainable state in the coming years.

“By 2030, we have set specific goals: to increase GDP per capita to USD4,500 (RM17,595) and ensure total economic output of at least USD30 billion (RM117. 3 billion),” he said. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
