KUCHING: Some editorial staff of Sarawak Tribune, mostly graphic artists, celebrated Labour Day with a BBQ and steamboat dinner at a restaurant in Batu Kawa here.
The restaurant offered a wide array of ingredients, including various meats, seafood, vegetables and other ingredients, for both grilling and hotpot cooking
The meats included beef, lamb, chicken and fish while the seafood included prawns, squids and scallops.
There were also fried noodles and fried rice while the soup bases consisted of tom yum and chicken broth.
The informal gathering provided an opportunity for the editorial staff to relax and enhance ties with one another.
It was organised by Chief Graphic Artist, Rozyiah Saleh, and Deputy Chief Graphic Artist, Dayang Nur Marziana.
Some of the staff also brought their children and family members, thus allowing them to connect with their friends and colleagues.
All in all, 17 people, young and old, turned up for the event.
The staff funded the eat-all-you-can buffet-style dinner themselves through monthly collections for the past one year.
One of the graphic artists, Augustine Peing, commented, “We work together. It is good for us to gather and eat together at least once a year. We seldom find time to enjoy such meals together.”
Another graphic artist, Regita Nen, said, “I ate my fill and enjoyed the food very much. I was glad I brought my daughters and let them enjoy the food with my friends.”
Alexson Kunyu, another graphic artist added, “It’s good to have such dinners every year. I enjoyed the wide varieties of meats, especially the beef, lamb and chicken. The dinner was good for enhancing ties with my colleagues.”
