Labourer arrested during police ops for drug abuse

MUKAH: A man was arrested after testing positive for methamphetamine during an integrated crime prevention operation (Op Bersepadu Cegah Jenayah) today (Nov 6).

The 30-year-old suspect, who works as a labourer, was detained during an inspection along Jalan Balingian–Bintulu.

A subsequent urine test conducted at the Balingian Police Station confirmed that he was positive for the drug.

Police said the man was taken to the Mukah police headquarters for further action, with the case being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The operation, which ran from 8am to 12pm, was conducted by Mukah District Police and covered areas under the jurisdiction of the Balingian Police Station, including Pasar Lama Balingian, Jalan Balingian–Bintulu, and Kuala Balingian.

Throughout the operation, a total of 99 individuals and 86 vehicles were inspected. Police also issued 13 summonses for various traffic offences.
