MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested a local man for alleged possession of methamphetamine following a raid at Kampung Penipah here yesterday (Nov 3).
He was arrested around 11.50 am after officers, acting on gathered intelligence, stopped the 31-year-old suspect who had just returned to an unnumbered house on a motorcycle.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said further checks led to the discovery of a straw tube containing suspected methamphetamine, kept inside his trouser pocket.
Both the suspect and drugs, weighing 0.39g, were taken to the police station, where an initial urine test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug consumption.
Rizal assured that Mukah police remains committed to curbing drug abuse in the district.
