KOTA SAMARAHAN: Narcotics police arrested a labourer for possessing suspected syabu drugs worth RM260, believed to be intended for distribution on Wednesday.

Kota Samarahan police chief, Supt Damataries Lautin, said in a statement that the arrest was made at 2.45 pm in front of a mini supermarket.

The 44-year-old man was detained for inspections after officers suspected him of being involved in drug distribution activities.

“During checks, the suspect handed over a cigarette box containing a plastic packet with crystalline substance, believed to be syabu.

“The drugs weighing 1.30 grammes (g) were seized with a market value of RM260,” he said.

Damataries added that the suspect, who tested negative for drugs, is being held at the police lock-up for further investigation under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Further interrogation revealed that the suspect confessed to being involved in drug distribution since early this year, and that the drugs were intended for sale to customers at the mini supermarket.

In addition, the suspect admitted to sourcing the drugs from an individual named ‘Aphing’, around Mile 7 and Kampung Tambirat.

Damataries stated that efforts are now underway to identify and apprehend ‘Aphing’.
