SELANGAU: Narcotics police arrested a labourer for possessing suspected methamphetamine during an operation along Jalan Sibu–Bintulu yesterday (Oct 13).
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the arrest was made at around 11.30 am following intelligence and surveillance.
The 23-year-old suspect was detained in front of an unnumbered house after he was suspected of being involved in drug abuse activities.
“Further checks led to the discovery of a straw tube containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 0.44 grams with an estimated value of RM48.
“Urine tests conducted on him also returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.
The suspect is being remanded to assist investigations under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Rizal assured that police will continue to carry out operations to combat drug abuse activities in Mukah and Selangau areas.
