SIBU: Opposition DAP is upset about not being able to cooperate with Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) on the distribution of seats said Sibu MP Oscar Ling.

He said the intention of PSB President Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh who wants to run for the Sibu parliamentary seat in the upcoming 15th general election will also set the stage for a stiff fight with him as the incumbent.

“Yes, it is true but we are very upset because DAP cannot cooperate with PSB regarding the distribution of seats.

“Due to failing to reach an agreement we have to fight each other even though we originally wanted to avoid this clash because we did not want to give an advantage to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS),” he said when met by reporters at the DAP Lantern Competition here on Yesterday (Sept 11).

He described the lack of consensus between DAP and PSB as a challenge for them.

However, Ling remains confident that support for DAP has slowly been improving since former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak was imprisoned.

“I can feel that the people’s support for DAP in the next election has improved compared to the last state election.

“Najib being already in prison will definitely have a positive effect on DAP. I am confident that we will get solid support after this.

“If the people support us as before, I am confident that Pakatan Harapan (PH) will return to Putrajaya,” he stressed.

He also emphasised that the upcoming election is very important to determine the future of the country.
