KUALA LUMPUR: The ‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak’ (LBAS) 2025 is set to take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here on October 25.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi disclosed this during a briefing session for the upcoming event, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof here on Tuesday.
Nanta also said the briefing, presented by Sarawak Volunteers (SV), covered the programme itinerary, the involvement of related departments and agencies, as well as the appointment of a new committee to ensure smooth organisation of the event.
“I am also deeply honoured to be entrusted as the chairman of LBAS 2025,” he said in a Facebook post.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri who also attended the briefing, said that this year’s LBAS will carry the theme ‘Prosperity Through Unity in Diversity’.
LBAS is a prominent cultural and community gathering for Sarawakians living outside the state, initially centred on those in Peninsular Malaysia before expanding internationally.
First held in 2008 in Kuala Lumpur as a simple Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house for Sarawakians, it has since grown into a much larger annual gathering featuring cultural showcases, exhibitions, townhall sessions with Sarawak leaders and networking opportunities for students and professionals.
