SIBU: The Lanang Community Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS) here on Tuesday (March 17) had the honour of receiving an official courtesy visit from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) deputy director Tiong Ling Hii.
The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation and engagement between the department and the local volunteer fire brigade while also providing an opportunity to review the development, readiness and operational needs of the Lanang community team.
The programme commenced with a short briefing by PBS captain Daniel ling Shii Ngie, covering the team’s background, membership, available equipment and the operational challenges faced in serving the local community.
This was followed by a dialogue and engagement session with Tiong, where members of the brigade shared their views, concerns and suggestions.
The session provided a valuable platform for open discussion and direct feedback from the department.
The programme also included a visit by Tiong to the operations room and an inspection of the brigade’s equipment to ensure that the team maintains a high level of preparedness in responding to emergencies.
This visit is expected to further strengthen the collaboration between the Bomba and the PBS, enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of fire safety services for the local community.
During the programme, Tiong also presented Bomba’s funding in a form of a cheque for RM2,500 to ling for PBS’ activities.
