KUCHING: Team Landas Azam Kasihnya Warisan 7 paddled to victory to win the YPS Piala Perpaduan at the Sarawak Regatta 2025, earning the RM2,000 grand prize.

Close behind was Landas Saga Sebuyau 6, who secured second place and a RM1,500 cash prize, followed by Landas Cahaya Helang Tasik 6 in third, earning RM1,200.

In a statement, YPS said the 13-paddler perahu bidar race, held yesterday morning (Nov 2) at the Kuching Waterfront, marked a proud moment as the Piala Perpaduan made its debut at the Sarawak Regatta.

“The Piala Perpaduan race showcased the message that Sarawakians paddle together, as they move forward together, perfectly aligning with the Regatta’s theme, “Race for Harmony.”

“Each team demonstrated exceptional teamwork, discipline, and unity in their quest to reach the finishing line,” it added.

The Yayasan Perpaduan Trophy’s inclusion in this year’s Sarawak Regatta further elevated the trophy’s prestige, making it one of the top highlights of this internationally recognised tourism event.

“YPS extends special appreciation to the organiser of the Sarawak Regatta 2025 for the opportunity to introduce the Piala Perpaduan in this year’s edition.

“YPS proudly supports the Regatta’s meaningful slogan, “Race for Harmony,” which similarly echoes our mission of nurturing unity, peace, and mutual respect among Sarawakians.

“YPS also extends its heartfelt thanks to YPS deputy chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, who graciously represented YPS and presented the trophies and
cash prizes to the winners of the Piala Perpaduan,” it said.

This year’s Piala Perpaduan not only crowned the new champion in this special category but
also celebrated the power of unity and togetherness in achieving a common goal.

First introduced at the Baram Regatta in 2023, the Piala Perpaduan has quickly grown into one of YPS’s signature initiatives, a symbol of togetherness that celebrates Sarawak’s rich cultural diversity through the shared spirit of competition.
