TEBEDU: The government has assured that all land acquired for development projects will be fairly and appropriately compensated.

Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada said that to date, the government has never taken land or demolished houses and roadside structures involved in development projects without compensation.
“So far, the government has never taken land or demolished houses and roadside structures involved in development projects for free.

“All compensation is paid according to the valuation process set by the Land and Survey Department (JTS).”
Dr Sinang said this in his speech at the Additional Land Compensation Cheque Presentation Ceremony for the construction of the Tebedu road project in the areas of Darul Iman, Darul Insan Jaya Darul Falah, and Temong Tepoi on Wednesday (Jan 21).

He stressed that every road construction project requires the use of land and cannot be built without land acquisition.

However, he also touched on the issue of a small number of people who continue to build houses or structures on land for which compensation had already been paid previously.

He explained that such actions are against the law, but the government remains concerned about the welfare of the people.

Commenting on the construction of Jalan Tebedu, he said the project is progressing smoothly and is ahead of schedule, with current physical progress reaching 7.4 per cent as of Dec 25, 2025, compared to the initial target of 4.99 per cent.

A total of 13 cheques amounting to RM46,949 were presented to 10 claimants, involving the acquisition of 0.6 hectares of land for the construction of the project.
