KAPIT: Two separate landslide incidents rocked areas in Kapit, causing structural damage to a house and impacting a bridge due to heavy rainfall.
The State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said the first incident occurred at Sebuluh kilometre 5, Pelajau, where a landslide struck behind a single-storey house around 12.53am yesterday (Dec 8).
The house suffered approximately 10 percent structural damage, particularly the kitchen wall, which collapsed due to the landslide.
Occupants were promptly advised to evacuate, and safety barriers were installed to secure the area.
Firefighters examined the status of the house and identified a collapsed portion of the kitchen wall due to the landslide. The team installed warning barriers and advised occupants to evacuate, particularly from areas near the landslide zone.
Simultaneously, another landslide hit the Rumah Nuang area along Jalan Bukit Goram, impacting a bridge due to heavy rainfall. The incident occurred around 11.16pm, impacting an old bridge in the process of being demolished, which affected one pillar of an adjacent new bridge.
Firefighters immediately assessed the affected area, installed safety barriers, and advised residents to steer clear of the impacted vicinity.
