LIMBANG: A landslide was reported early today near a residential area at Pyramid Housing along Jalan Kubong, prompting an inspection and safety advisory from the Fire and Rescue Department.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 8.27 am on Jan 26 reporting soil movement beside a house in the area.
A team from the Limbang Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to assess the situation.
It is said the landslide was confirmed at a location estimated to be about 50 metres from the affected house.
Five firefighters were deployed to the scene with one Fire Rescue Tender. No injuries were reported.
Fire officers advised residents in the vicinity to remain vigilant and to take precautionary measures, particularly during periods of heavy rain.
Occupants were also instructed to contact the fire department immediately should there be any further ground movement or signs of instability.
No other agencies were involved at the time of the inspection.
The Fire and Rescue Department said it would continue to monitor developments and urged the public not to take early warning signs lightly, as landslides can escalate rapidly and pose serious risks to life and property.
