KUCHING: The largest education fair is back this Wednesday; it will take place at Pullman Hotel here from 1pm to 5pm.
Organised by EduQuest Education Services, the event had received overwhelming response during the past few years, allowing parents and students to obtain the latest updates from universities and colleges.
SPM, STPM, UEC, IGCSE, A-Levels and Diploma graduates are invited to attend the event and speak directly to representatives from universities and colleges, both in Malaysia and overseas.
Students are advised to bring their trial exam or forecast results for immediate evaluation.
Considering the current economic situation, parents who initially planned to send their children overseas to further their studies are now thinking of allowing them to study locally for a few years before transferring them to foreign universities.
Comparatively, studying in Malaysia and Singapore now seems more affordable than other countries, with the scholarships, bursaries and financial aid provided by the government and respective institutions. Apart from that, the quality of education in these institutions is at par with world renowned universities.
EduQuest education manager Michael Yii said, “Students have just sat for the public examinations and this is the moment for them to plan where to further their studies.
“The event is definitely the best platform to help them decide as they can speak directly to the representatives from different institutions. To help lighten parents’ burden, some institutions are waiving the application fees if they apply on the spot.”
He added that another highlight of the event would be the availability of scholarships and financial aids at various institutions.
“Next year will be another challenging year for most parents financially. Hence, institutions are offering attractive scholarships, bursaries and incentives to ease parents’ burden in financing their children’s education,” he said.
In conjunction with the event, students are invited to pre-register online in order to win prizes like Kuching-Kuala Lumpur return air tickets, Starbucks cards, power banks, wireless earphones and more. The pre-registration website is http://bit.ly/eqedufair.
Representatives from more than 100 universities in Malaysia and other countries will be present at the education fair.
Visitors can also speak to representatives from government agencies like the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and JobsMalaysia to know more about financial assistance and the job market in Malaysia, particularly Sarawak.
