KUCHING: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) has launched its 45th Anniversary Sapphire Jubilee, marking over four decades of service to Sarawak communities.

Themed ‘45 Years of LCDA with the Community’, the celebration highlights LCDA’s legacy in driving socio-economic transformation and improving livelihoods through property and commercial agricultural development.

“This annual assembly gathers our people together, and today we launched our 45th anniversary programmes,” said LCDA General Manager, Datuk Zaidi Mahdi.

He said this when officiating the celebration at Pullman Hotel today.

He explained that the anniversary calendar features programmes with community, knowledge-sharing, sports, recreational and official elements, reflecting LCDA’s broad engagement beyond its core development mandate.

According to Zaidi, LCDA planned the programmes to ensure meaningful outreach, combining corporate social responsibility initiatives, educational activities, and community-friendly events throughout the anniversary year.

Among highlighted activities are the Sapphire Jubilee Run, Youth Empowerment Carnival, greening programmes, and ground engagement initiatives designed to strengthen LCDA’s connection with communities across Sarawak.

“A gala dinner will serve as the celebration’s highlight, featuring the launch of an LCDA Coffee Table Book chronicling its journey with communities since its establishment in 1981.

“LCDA is also organising an International Social Impact Assessment conference, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development aligned with PCDS 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

“In total, we have around 12 official programmes listed, while many smaller Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community-sharing initiatives continue across Sarawak,” he said when outlining programme numbers.

He noted that some initiatives had already been implemented, demonstrating LCDA’s consistent engagement and ensuring anniversary activities benefit communities rather than remaining purely ceremonial.

The celebration is supported by strategic partners including the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) and TVS, which help promote programmes to targeted groups and the wider public.
