KUCHING: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) underscores its commitment in expanding land and housing development initiatives to benefit Sarawak residents through a proper planning, inclusive, and long term urban growth.

Over the years, LCDA has delivered multiple flagship projects involving redevelopment, resettlement, and affordable housing, supporting the state government’s broader socioeconomic transformation agenda.

“We are entrusted by the Sarawak government to implement land development and housing redevelopment projects that directly improve community wellbeing,” said chief executive officer of Puncak Borneo Development Sdn Bhd (PBDSB) Zuraimy Kusyaili, representing the general manager of LCDA ,Datuk Sr Zaidi Mahdi.

He said this to the reporter during LCDA bowling fiesta with the media held at Megalanes, Emart Batu Kawa today (Dec27).

“At Sungai Berdaun, 209 housing units under Phase One are almost fully occupied, mainly by additional households relocated from Darul Hana,” said Senior Corporate manager of LCDA Saiful Bahari.

“Sungai Berdaun represents one of LCDA’s key resettlement developments, providing structured neighbourhoods complete with utilities, infrastructure, and improved living conditions for affected families,” said Saiful.

“Approximately sixty per cent of Phase One homes have been occupied, while the remaining units are expected to be taken up by eligible families early next year.

“Phase Two of the Sungai Berdaun project will involve an additional 208 housing units, with construction scheduled to commence in 2026.

“Beyond Kuching, LCDA is also actively implementing village expansion and resettlement projects across Sarawak, including Padang Kerbau in Miri and Sebuyau.

Several ongoing housing schemes under state programmes are expected to reach completion next year, including developments in Lawas and other strategic locations.

“These initiatives aim to increase access to affordable homes, prioritising families without permanent housing while ensuring orderly town planning and adequate public infrastructure,” he said.

He added that LCDA works closely with agencies such as the Land and Survey Department, Housing Development Corporation, and Mutiara Mortgage to streamline housing delivery.

Inter-agency collaboration ensures residential projects are completed on schedule, fully serviced with utilities, and aligned with Sarawak’s long term development targets.

LCDA’s in-house Industrialised Building System factory further strengthens its capacity to meet government timelines while maintaining construction quality and cost efficiency.

Looking ahead, LCDA compels to supporting Sarawak’s housing agenda through the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan, delivering sustainable communities by 2030.
