LEA sponsors PSPBK for upcoming tournament

KUCHING: LEA Sports Centre (LSC) yesterday handed over their sponsorship to the Petanque Association of Kuching Division (PSPBK) in conjunction with their upcoming Kuching Petanque Double Open Tournament 2017 (10th series).

LSC is supporting this tournament by providing outright trophies and medals for the winners which fall under two categories namely, Men’s Double and Women’s Double. The tournament will be held today (Oct 14) and tomorrow (Oct 15), from 8am to 10pm at the Santubong Petanque Complex, Santubong.

A total of 153 players for the Men’s Double category and 62 players for the Women’s Double category, comprising teams from Kuala Lumpur, Brunei, Perak, Terengganu, Johor, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak are taking part in the tournament.

Through this tournament, the association will be able to scout potential local players for the selection of Kuching team for the upcoming Sukan Sarawak (SUKSAR), which is expected to be held at the end of this year. LSC has been very supportive of the association since it represented the Sarawak team in the 18th SUKMA games, whereby it won one gold medal and one bronze medal.

Through determination and dedication, PSPBK has managed to convince LSC to support the association through development programmes as well as sponsorship for the players and the officials. The handing over ceremony yes terday was wi tnes sed by Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi , LSC Kuching Stor e Manager Nicholes Chew, and PSPBK Deputy Chairman Jefri Nawi.
