Leaders convey condolences to Nancy following husband’s passing

KUCHING: National and state leaders have extended their condolences to Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri following the passing of her husband, Datuk Kamil Misuari on Thursday (Jun 18).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were among the first to express their sympathies, praying that Nancy and her family be granted strength and fortitude during this difficult time.

They also prayed for the late Kamil to be showered with mercy, forgiven of his sins and rewarded for his good deeds.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi likewise conveyed their condolences to Nancy and her family.

In a statement, they expressed sadness over the loss and prayed that the late Kamil be placed among the faithful and righteous, while wishing the family strength, patience and perseverance in facing the bereavement.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof also paid his last respects to the late Kamil at Hospital Ampang and Masjid Negara in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Jun 18) night.

In a social media post, Fadillah said he joined the funeral prayers and accompanied the late Kamil’s remains to Masjid Negara.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi described Nancy as a close friend and expressed his sadness over the loss.

He prayed that she and her family would be granted patience and strength in facing the difficult period.

Meanwhile, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki together with his wife and members of the Sarawak Civil Service also conveyed their condolences to Nancy and her family.

He prayed that the late Kamil will be blessed with mercy and forgiveness, while expressing hope that Nancy and her family would be granted strength and resilience during their time of grief.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib also shared her condolences, praying for the late Kamil’s soul to be placed among the faithful and righteous and for the family to be given strength and patience.

Messages of sympathy have continued to pour in from leaders, government agencies and members of the public since news of Kamil’s passing was announced on Thursday (Jun 18) evening.
