KUCHING: All current office bearers of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) have unanimously agreed to defend their posts in the upcoming party election.

PRS President Joseph Salang Gandum announced this following a special Supreme Council meeting held to finalise arrangements for the party’s Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC), scheduled for October 18 and 19 at Riverside Majestic Kuching.

“The venue is Riverside Majestic Kuching, and we expect all divisions to send their delegates and observers according to the numbers accredited by the Credential Committee, which is meeting this afternoon,” Salang told Sarawak Tribune at PRS Headquarters today.

“The Credential Committee will accredit divisions with sufficient membership and advise them on the number of delegates and observers to send for the main body.

“Meanwhile, the women’s and youth movements will be guided to organise their meetings within the designated period for their AGMs to select leadership teams as well as delegates and observers to attend the TDC,” he added.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the opening of the TDC on October 18, to be followed by the youth and women’s wings holding their respective conferences that afternoon, with the main body convening the next day.

“Yes, there will be a contest based on the constitution, and we will lead the divisions in nominating candidates for the various posts,” Salang added, confirming that leadership contests will be held in line with party rules.
