PADAWAN: Efficient leadership is crucial in managing and administering villages, especially within the Padawan area.
Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said individuals selected as ketua kaum (community leaders) must possess leadership skills, particularly in financial management, to ensure smooth village governance.
He said every ketua kaum and Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) must practise transparency in all aspects of financial management, as weak financial oversight can negatively impact the community’s integrity.
“Anyone responsible for managing a community’s financial accounts must have at least basic financial management skills.
“If not, village governance will become a serious issue and could affect the well-being of the residents,” he said.
He said this during the certificate presentation ceremony for the appointment of Ketua Kaum Kampung Petag, held at the Kampung Petag Multipurpose Hall on Sunday (Feb 23).
With the appointment of a new ketua kaum, he expressed hope that Kampung Petag would continue progressing in social and economic development, while maintaining unity and well-being among the local community.
Meanwhile, Mecca Sadjoy has been appointed as the new ketua kaum, replacing Hall Janum, who previously held the position. The certificate was officially presented by Dr Jerip as well.
During the event, the Deputy Minister of Transport also approved RM30,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds for JKKK Kampung Petag.
