MIRI: Single mothers here have been urged to learn new skills so that they stand on their own feet and support their children.

Transport Minister, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also Senadin sssemblyman, made the call on Sunday after presenting certificates to 17 participants from Miri Harmony Welfare and Social Club who had, earlier on, attended cooking lessons at Miri Community College.

“Today, you’ve learnt how to make cupcakes and pizzas. Perhaps, you can use the social media to tell customers about the products that you are selling,” he told the participants who included single mothers.

Lee also announced a RM20,000 allocation to the club, to help fund new skill training lessons in future for its members.
