FORMER APRIL member Lee Naeun is officially making a comeback to acting, and not everyone is happy about it. On Friday, Namoo Actors confirmed that Naeun has been cast in the upcoming ENA action-thriller “Eye Shopping”, set to premiere this Monday.

The drama tells the intense story of abandoned children fighting to survive and take revenge after being adopted by troubled families. Naeun will play Somi, one of the children who, despite her painful past, shows strength and determination. The role marks a shift from her usual youth-themed characters, drawing major attention.

According to Koreaboo, Naeun’s return has stirred up controversy online. Many netizens were shocked by the casting, as Naeun had previously stepped away from the spotlight following bullying allegations made by former APRIL member Lee Hyunjoo in 2020. At the time, Naeun denied the accusations through a public statement, but the backlash led her to halt her activities. The group eventually disbanded in 2022.

While the issue has quieted down over time and no legal consequences followed, public opinion remains divided. Some fans have welcomed her back, while others criticised the move, saying she’s attempting to quietly resume her career without directly addressing the unresolved scandal.

One netizen commented, “Please don’t let these kinds of people back on screen. There are so many new actors who deserve the chance.”
