KUCHING: A group of friends from Sarawak have paid tribute to Kuching by building their own LEGO cats, one of the local stories featured in LEGO’s ‘Bina Bersama, Cipta Cerita’ campaign with Shopee Malaysia.

The campaign, which runs until the end of 2025, aims to inspire Malaysians to ‘Bina Bersama’ (Play and Build Together) and ‘Cipta Cerita’ (Create Memories and Stories).

It is designed to make LEGO more accessible nationwide through Shopee’s online platform while encouraging families to create together.

Other highlights include a family in Sabah recreating Mount Kinabalu.

LEGO said such creations showed how play bricks can spark imagination, strengthen bonds, and connect Malaysians across states.

The LEGO Group global survey involving more than 32,000 respondents, including Malaysians, found that while 97 per cent of parents want their children to build more often, 72 per cent of children feel pressured to be perfect and worry about making mistakes.

“‘Bina Bersama, Cipta Cerita’ takes this insight as a rallying call, encouraging Malaysians to build freely and without fear – whether their creations match a set plan or spring entirely from imagination,” it said.

To mark Malaysia Day, Shopee is running the #BinaBersamaCiptaCerita contest from September 3 to 19, with six winners set to receive LEGO sets worth up to RM914.

Among the early ideas are a LEGO map of Malaysia, Sarawak’s traditional instruments, and the Tugu Negara.

Exclusive promotions are available on the LEGO Official Shop in Shopee Mall, including an 11 per cent discount voucher for first-time buyers until December 31, 2025.

The LEGO Group said its mission remains to inspire and develop ‘the builders of tomorrow’ by fostering creativity and imagination in everyone.
