LAWAS: Sarawakians are urged to uphold unity and mutual respect within the state, according to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

His call came during the 2023 Lawas Pre-Gawai celebration at Rumah Munit Kampung Lumut Laut, here, where he praised the event for showcasing the values of unity in Sarawak.

“I am extremely proud to witness the harmonious coexistence of various races, religions, and cultures here. This is the essence of our state, living together in mutual respect,” said Awang Tengah during his speech.

“We celebrate every festival together, and it is imperative that we uphold this unity,” he added.

Awang Tengah, who is also the Bukit Sari assemblyman, expressed his commitment to the state development, particularly through infrastructure projects such as the construction of new bridges and roads.

“We are planning to construct a new cement bridge for this longhouse, and we will connect the new road directly to this community. It is my hope that we can continue working together, as it exemplifies the government’s dedication to the further advancement of Sarawak,” he said.
