SEOUL, South Korea: South Korean firm, LG Electronics, said on Monday that it had signed a deal with global data infrastructure provider, DATAVOLT, to provide cooling solutions for a new AI data centre being developed in Oxagon in Saudi Arabia, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
Oxagon is the industrial hub of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious NEOM City project.
Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding, LG will supply thermal management technologies, including large-scale chillers and coolant distribution units.
LG said that the partnership aligns with its wider ‘One LG Solution’ strategy, which leverages the collective expertise of LG Group affiliates.
This opens the door for future collaboration with LG Energy Solution for battery systems and LG CNS for end-to-end data centre design, construction, and operations, the company added.
DATAVOLT, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, focuses on developing hyperscale data centres powered by renewable energy and alternative fuels.
Its flagship AI data centre in Oxagon is set to become one of the largest and most advanced in the region.
Commenting on the collaboration, LG Electronics boss, William Cho, said the Middle East and Africa hold tremendous potential.
“The Middle East offers abundant B2G and B2B opportunities driven by government-led industrial restructuring and large-scale development projects,” he added.
“By leveraging our strong brand and differentiated offerings in areas such as AI home and smart solutions, we need to focus on capturing new growth across the region.” – BERNAMA-dpa
