KOTA SAMARAHAN: A two-storey house in Taman Berlian Stabil was struck by lightning and briefly caught fire last night (Sept 21), sending its occupants into a brief scare.
The flames, however, had already burnt out on their own before first responders arrived.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident was reported at 7.35 pm, prompting firefighters from Kota Samarahan station to be deployed to the scene, about 11km away.
By the time they reached the house, no firefighting operation was required. The team instead carried out inspections in the ceiling area to ensure the house was safe.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the house only suffered minor fire damage.
The operation ended at 8.20 pm once firefighters confirmed there were no lingering fire sources.
