KUCHING: SAC Lim San Aik is now the Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief.

Lim took over from Sarawak acting CID chief ACP Mohd Ishak Yaakob during a handover of duties ceremony, which was witnessed by Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata at the Sarawak Contingent police headquarters, Jalan Badruddin, here today.

Mohd Ishak had held the position in an acting capacity since Feb 13, following the transfer of SAC Wong Ing Fong, who was appointed as the new Sarawak Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief.

Meanwhile, Mancha, in his speech, reminded CID personnel to utilise modern technology in investigations.

He said this could be achieved by attending relevant training and courses.

“With this, the quality of investigations will improve, have a greater impact, and provide greater satisfaction to our community.

“A good relationship with the community must also be strengthened so that crime-related information can be obtained easily and widely,” said Mancha.

Lim, 53, is the former principal assistant director of Bukit Aman D9 before being posted to Sarawak.

He expressed hope that he would be able to contribute through his expertise from Bukit Aman.
