SIBU: Pelawan assemblyman Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee says the Ling Kai Cheng Road upgrading project is progressing smoothly.

He noted that following feedback from members of the public regarding dust generated during the construction period, he immediately coordinated with the contractor and suggested giving priority to the road section beside SMK Bandar Sibu for asphalt paving in order to minimise dust and protect the health of students and teachers.

“I sincerely appreciate the contractor’s prompt cooperation in paving the first layer of asphalt along the stretch beside SMK Bandar Sibu. This adjustment has effectively reduced dust and provided a cleaner and safer environment for students and parents,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 5).

Tiang, who is also Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, added that the road section heading from Ling Kai Cheng towards the town area is progressing well, with the contractor expected to complete the first layer of asphalt paving within this week.

“The Ling Kai Cheng Road upgrading project aims to comprehensively improve road safety. Although some inconvenience is inevitable during the construction period, I believe that with everyone’s cooperation, the completed project will bring significant improvements for local residents.”

Reminding the public that night road closures along Ling Kai Cheng Road will continue until Nov 7 (Friday) to facilitate completion of the remaining works, Tiang added that the closure period will be from 8pm to 4am nightly, and road users are advised to avoid the construction zone or use alternative routes.
