SIBU: To widely promote the upcoming 2026 Asia Pacific Lions Leaders Summit (APLLS), which will be held here from July 17 to 19, 2026, top brasses from Lions International Board and Lions International District 308-A2 recently visited the Lions International District 303 Secretariat of Hong Kong and Macau.
Lions International Board appointee Potter Ka Kai Fong, who is also Multiple District 308 Council chairperson, together with District 308-A2 govenor Datuk Winnie Lee Siew Ping, District 308-A2 first vice governor Datuk Jimmy Tie Tien Hwa and APLLS organising chairperson Datuk Betty Wong Yieng, who is also District 308-A2 past govenor.
They engaged in fruitful discussions with Lions leaders from Hong Kong, Macau, and various provinces of China to promote the APLLS and extend invitations to attend.
During the meeting, Ka elaborated on the importance and international impact of the APPLS.
He emphasised that the summit will serve as a vital platform for Lions leaders across the Asia Pacific region to explore future development, foster cross-border exchanges, and strengthen service collaboration.
The event is expected to gather more than 800 Lions leaders and members from 17 countries and regions, making it a truly historic occasion.
Meanwhile, Lee stressed that the summit is not only a significant milestone for Lions in the region but also an excellent opportunity for Sarawak and Malaysia to showcase their rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality.
She urged fellow Lions from Hong Kong, Macau, and across China to actively participate and seize this historic platform for international fellowship.
Wong also provided updates on the summit preparations, including venue arrangements, programme design, and multiple thematic seminars.
She assured that the organising committee is working diligently to deliver the event at the highest standards, creating another glorious chapter in Lions history.
It was also announced that the incoming international president, Mark S. Lyon, together with first lady Lyn Lyon, will travel from the United States to personally attend and witness the summit in Sibu, further elevating its international prestige.
The promotional activity received an enthusiastic response from the attending Lions leaders of Hong Kong, Macau, and various provinces of China, who pledged their full support and active participation in welcoming the international Lions fraternity to Sibu in 2026.
