KUCHING: Families left homeless by the recent Kampung Tabuan Hilir fire have received timely humanitarian assistance through a district-wide Lions Club initiative.
A coordinated effort by Region 1, Lions Clubs International District 308-A2 mobilised emergency relief,
bringing together all 18 Lions Clubs in Region 1 to provide immediate necessities to affected residents.
In a press statement on Tuesday (July 7), it said the relief mission demonstrated the Lions movement’s commitment to serving communities during times of crisis.
A total of 24 Lions members and three Leo members personally delivered the aid packages, working together to ensure every affected household received essential items without delay.
The statement said the devastating fire displaced nine families comprising 50 individuals, leaving them without homes and many everyday necessities required for normal living.
“Each affected family received kitchen utensil sets, cooking tools, gas regulators and a month’s supply of dry food to help them resume daily routines as recovery continues,” it said.
It added that second-hand clothing generously donated by members also formed part of the relief packages.
