KUCHING: Sarawak’s rising dance prodigy Dion Das Louis, fondly known as ‘Little Borneo Birdie’, has once again made Malaysia proud by winning silver at the 2025 Dance World Cup (DWC) World Finals in Burgos, Spain.

The Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Green Road student secured second place in the Mini Solo National and Folklore category with an Ethnic Creative performance, earning an impressive 93.8 points.

This is not Dion’s first international success.

At the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Long Beach, California last year, he was crowned champion in the same category.

He qualified for this year’s DWC finals after emerging as champion in the Malaysian qualifier, organised by the Sabah Culture and Arts Department in January.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian congratulated the young dancer on Facebook, stating: “Heartiest congratulations to Dion for winning Second Place (Mini Solo National & Folklore – Ethnic Creative) at the 2025 World Finals of Dance World Cup!”

The global competition, considered the ‘Olympics of Dance’, brought together top young talents from around the world and was hosted at Fórum Evolución Burgos.
