THE state government remain committed to supporting rural residents in building new longhouses as well as repairing existing ones through the Longhouse Loan Scheme.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee said that the Longhouse Loan Scheme provides RM50,000 per door for building new longhouses and RM30,000 per door for repairs, with monthly repayments of RM167 and RM100 respectively, over 25 years, with interest-free loans.

As for Repok constituents, Tiang said that from 2020 up to October of this year, a total 10 longhouses consisting of 216 doors have been approved with an allocation of RM8.24 million both from state and federal governments.
“The construction of 30 units of RSP on the Skim Pembesaran Kampung (SPK) lots at Susur Jambu Phase II, Sarikei has been completed and the units were handed over to the homeowners on Feb 21.
“Additional units will be implemented should there be requests from landowners under the SPK Susur Jambu Phase II, Sarikei,” he said.
He was responding to Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii (GPS-Repok) during question time in State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.
Tiang said that in addition to the Rumah SPEKTRA Permata Program (RSP), the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) also offers loans for building materials and hardware through the scheme.
