BAU: Police arrested a local man on Wednesday (Feb 26) for allegedly conducting illegal public lottery activities behind a shop premises here.
Bau Police chief, DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman, said the arrest was made at about 11.20 pm by officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the district police headquarters (IPD).
He said initial inspection found the suspect to be involved in illegal lottery activities, and several items were seized to assist investigations.
“The case is being investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953,” he said in a statement.
Haide urged members of the public to channel information related to illegal gambling activities to IPD Bau at 082-763311 or the nearest police station.
