MIRI: Police have detained a local man suspected of stealing gas cylinders in a late afternoon operation in the district on Saturday.
The arrest was carried out at about 4.40 pm along Jalan Padang Kerbau by a team led by ASP Goldy Jangan, chief of the Miri Central Police Station, together with officers from the Criminal Prevention Unit.
The suspect is being held at the Miri Central Police Station lock-up to assist investigations under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious or criminal activity to the authorities.
