Local MRCS branch holds Appreciation Night

SIBU: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sibu Branch hosted “The Appreciation Night” 2024 – an event dedicated to celebrating selflessness, compassion and dedication on Saturday.

The event was graced by the Bukit Assek assemblyman, Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, who is also the branch’s honorary advisor as the guest of honour.

In his welcoming speech, MRCS Sibu branch chairman, Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee lauded tthe incredible individuals, namely the smart partnership partners, school teachers, members and volunteers, who have gone above and beyond in offering voluntary services for humanity, embodying the spirit of care and generosity that unites together to achieve far-reaching goals and strive for excellence.

“Tonight (Dec 28) recognition is but a small token of our MRCS Sibu Branch appreciation for the monumental impact you have made. May this recognition and appreciation serve not only as a celebration of your accomplishments but also as a beacon inspiring others to follow in your footsteps. And let us continue to work together to create a brighter, more compassionate future.

“To our advisor, thank you for your guidance, mentorship and unwavering faith in our abilities, your insights have been instrumental in navigating challenges and making informed decisions.

Your willingness to step up and take on additional responsibilities makes a significant difference. We are truly humbled by the support you have shown to our Sibu Red Crescent throughout the year,” he stated.

While extending heartfelt gratitude to the director of Sibu General Hospital, Dr Nanthankumar and his blood bank team for their invaluable support in MRCS Sibu branch’s mass blood donation programmes, Chua noted that the team’s professionalism, efficiency and unwavering commitment played a pivotal role in ensuring adequate of blood supply for the patients.

Adding on, he pointed out that the meticulous planning, smooth execution and friendly approach of the hospital staff created a welcoming environment for all blood donors and encouraging many to participate in this life-saving meaningful event.

“As we embark on this journey into the new year, I encourage each of you to remain engaged, continue to contribute your unique talents, and always strive to make a positive impact on our services. Together let us make the 2025 a year of meaningful progress in our humanitarian endeavours and building a better tomorrow,” Chua added.
