KUCHING: A 33-year-old local worker died after being hit by a falling concrete slab at a construction site at Jalan Stutong here this morning.
Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the incident was reported to the Sungai Maong Police Station by a member of the public at 10:16 am.
“Initial investigations revealed that the victim was working at the site at the time of the incident.
“He died after being struck by a concrete slab that was being hoisted to the fifth floor. The concrete slab had fallen when it was at the second floor and struck the victim,” he said in a statement today.
Alexson said the victim died at the scene from severe head injuries and was later confirmed dead by paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
The body has since been sent to SGH for a post-mortem examination.

Alexson also reminded the public not to speculate on the incident out of respect for the victim’s family.
