KUCHING: Lodge Group of Schools, which was established 70 years ago, has grown, evolved and become one of the most respected schools in Sarawak.
Lodge School Association chairman Allister Hilton Smith said the school was founded in 1953 by a group of passionate educators to serve the educational needs of expatriate children in Kuching.
“Today, we celebrate the achievements of the past 70 years and the many students, teachers and parents who have contributed to its success.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we also remember the principles and values that have guided us over the years – integrity, excellence and service. These are the same principles that will continue to guide us in the years to come,” he said.
He was speaking at the Lodge Platinum Jubilee soft launching ceremony at Lodge National Secondary School’s Hall here on Tuesday (Mar 28).
Smith also said the school will continue its commitment and dedication to produce excellent and quality students.
“To the current students, I want to remind you that you are part of a great legacy.
“The education you receive here is not just about getting good grades, it’s about developing character, leadership and a lifelong love for learning.
“Therefore, I encourage you to make the most of this opportunity and to use your education to make a positive impact on the world,” he said.
He also thanked the teachers, staff and administrators for their dedication and hard work.
“I want to express my appreciation to the generations of school committees and staff, who have played such a vital role in shaping the school’s history and success.
“Your contributions, whether big or small, have made a difference, and we are honored to have you as part of our community,” he said.
Lodge Group of Schools started as The Lodge Preparatory School and Kindergarten in 1953 to serve the educational needs of British expatriates’ children in Kuching.
Today, Lodge Group of Schools operate under four entities namely – Lodge Kindergarten, Lodge Primary School, Lodge Secondary School and Lodge International School.
