The newly-launched Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) logo will be used during the 12th state election in 2021.
In stating this, GPS secretary-general Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said the coalition would be sending the logo to the Election Commission (EC) first for its approval.
“We will send it for approval after the party’s official launch evening of Jan 19 at the Sarawak Indoor Stadium,” he told reporters after the GPS’ logo and song launching at the Parti Pesaka BumiputeraBersatu (PBB) Headquarters here yesterday.
Nanta, who is also the PBB secretary-general, said more than 8,000 members and supporters throughout the state were expected to attend the grand launching of GPS.
He also said other Sarawak local parties could apply to join GPS after its grand launching.
“The four founding members of GPS are PBB, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP). And yes, as long as the local parties subscribe to our objectives they can apply to join us,” he said.
Asked whether Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDS), State Reform Party Sarawak (STAR) and United People’s Party (UPP) were joining GPS, Nanta said the respective parties must first send in their applications which would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
