SRI AMAN: A fire occurred at the 29-door Rumah Siliver Garik, Kenyungan in Batu Lintang, Undop, late Wednesday night, damaging 19 doors (units) and leaving 19 families homeless.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the fire was believed to have started from door number seven.
He said 15 personnel from Sri Aman fire station rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 11.32pm. The spokesman said the fire was brought under control at 1.10am and the operation was concluded at 3.30am.
“No injuries and casualties were reported in the incident. The estimated loss and actual cause of fire are still being investigated,” he said.
He added that the 13th Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) personnel from Camp Pakit here were also deployed to the scene to distribute food and drinks to the victims.
Meanwhile, Assistant Minister of Community Well Being, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who learned of the incident, paid a visit to the fire victims yesterday morning.
