BINTULU: Residents of Ningkan Bungkong longhouse at Sungai Setiam here are now enjoying better road access following the completion of road repair works under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Jepak constituency, which was officially handed over recently.
The project handover was officiated by Shahrezly Sulaiman on behalf of Jepak assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee, during a brief visit to the longhouse.
Shahrezly is Iskandar’s special officer.
According to Shahrezly, the project is part of Iskandar’s ongoing commitment to improving basic infrastructure in rural areas.
“Projects like this have a significant impact on longhouse residents, not only in terms of daily mobility but also safety, especially during the rainy season.
“Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee places great importance on the welfare of the people and strives to ensure that no community is left behind,” he said.
The road repair project, which serves more than 20 doors (units) of the longhouse, was funded through the 2024 RTP allocation.
Shahrezly added that the Jepak Constituency Service Office will continue to monitor the implementation of each project to ensure it meets the needs and expectations of the local community.
Meanwhile, Tuai Rumah Ningkan and his ‘anembiak’ (residents) welcomed the completion of the project, and expressed their gratitude to the Jepak assemblyman for his concern and prompt action in addressing the community’s needs.
