SARATOK: A lorry attendant sustained a minor leg injury after the vehicle he was in rear-ended another lorry along Saratok–Sarikei road early this morning.

The accident occurred near Dabai Rasuk Lichok, Jalan Pan Borneo and involved two lorries.

The 18-year-old male lorry attendant in the rear vehicle, suffered a minor injury to his left leg. Three other men, aged between 33 and 49, escaped unhurt.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said there received a distress call at 6.27 am, and personnel from the Saratok station were dispatched to scene, 25km away.

“Firefighters had to extricate the injured individual by cutting through the mangled lorry door.

“He was then placed on a stretcher and handed over to medical personnel on-site before being taken to Roban Clinic for further treatment,” it said in a statement today.

The department added that the rescue operation ended at 7.30 am after the situation was deemed safe and under control.
