MIRI: Firefighters raced against time early this morning after a lorry burst into flames at Taman Milea Residence along the Miri By-Pass.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operation Centre said the alarm was raised at 4:43 am.
A team from the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station responded within minutes, reaching the scene at 4:50 am.
Upon arrival, the crew found a lorry fully ablaze. Fire suppression was carried out using two hose reels from the engine’s water supply.
The blaze was brought under control by 4:55 am and extinguished completely by 5:08 am. No injuries were reported.
Six firefighters were involved, supported by two engines, a FRT Scania and an EMRS unit. The police were also at the scene.
The cause of the fire and estimated damages are under investigation.
The team returned to base at 5:24 am after confirming the area was safe.
