KUCHING: Lubok Antu remained the only area in Sarawak with very unhealthy air quality as of 9am today (Sept 13), while conditions improved across most other parts of the state.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Malaysia System (APIMS), Lubok Antu recorded an API of 201, unchanged from an hour earlier, after easing from 212 the previous evening.
Nine other monitoring stations remained in the unhealthy category, with Serian recording 185, Sri Aman (174), Betong MCAQM (172), Kuching and Samarahan (156 each), Kanowit (148), Tebedu (137), Lundu (122) and Sibu (109).
Most of the readings showed slight improvement from 8am, except Kanowit, which edged up from 145 to 148.
The remaining stations recorded moderate air quality, including Sarikei at 91, Mukah (80), Kapit (76), Bintulu (74), Miri (72), Samalaju (70), Lawas (63), ILP Miri (61) and Limbang (55).
Bario improved further to an API of 50, bringing it into the good category.
Members of the public in areas still recording unhealthy or very unhealthy air quality, particularly children, senior citizens and those with respiratory or heart conditions, are advised to continue limiting prolonged outdoor activities until conditions improve further.
